Is A Pomchi Right For You?

Pomchi's are fluffy and cute for sure but are they a good fit for your family? In general they are friendly, good natured and quite sweet, however
they can't take abuse from very young children. They do not like loud noises and quick movements especially when directed at them. With Miley, absolutely everyone must first pass the sniff test and she does not take well to being grabbed unexpectedly by anyone especially strangers (but then who does?).

With her looks she attracts small children in packs, but they have to be warned to hold out their hands and allow her to come to them until she feels safe, otherwise she will snap and scare them - not a good scenario. Chipom's are quite delicate and although they love to run and play, what they love most is being curled up by your side (a true lapdog).

Pomchi's will also tend to bond with one person in the family, likely the person who spends the most time with them from a pup. We originally bought Miley for my daughter's 11th birthday after much begging and pleading. When we brought Miley home, I was working from home and she was with me all day so of course she bonded with me instead of my daughter (she's my dog now). She continues to stick to me like a shadow, but will play and cuddle with the kids too. Wherever I am, she is not far away! All in all Chirarian's have a superb temperament and are affectionate with everyone in the family or anyone who pays attention to them.

A good family unit for a Pomchi would be a household with children that are old enough to understand how to be gentle with small dogs and a family that is prepared to spend time with them and give them lots of attention. A single person or a couple is also a perfect fit if they are prepared to spend a great deal of time with the dog, either at home or by taking the dog out with them. Pomchi's cannot be left alone for long periods of time and luckily their size enables them to be transported quite easily just about anywhere. We never go away without taking Miley with us. She is quite comfortable travelling and loves being in the car with us. She is an important part of our family! If there is someone in your family who would not be loving and affectionate with a Pomchi, I would not recommend buying one as they are not forgiving! Chipom's are perfect for apartment or condo life as they do not require much space to roam. Because of their size, they can get enough exercise in small spaces. A short walk a couple of times a day is sufficient exercise and of course toileting needs.
